Cyclohexane, an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H12, is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, insoluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, benzene and acetone.
Uses
As solvent: Cyclohexane is an excellent organic solvent, commonly used to dissolve grease, resin, rubber and other substances. It is widely used as a solvent to regulate the viscosity and drying performance of products in the industries of coatings, inks, adhesives and so on.
Raw material for organic synthesis: It is the raw material for the synthesis of nylon 66, nylon 6 and other important synthetic fibers. Through a series of chemical reactions, cyclohexane can be converted into adipic acid, caprolactam and other intermediates, and then used in the production of nylon fiber. Nylon fiber has high strength, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and other excellent properties, widely used in textiles, automotive, electronics and other fields.
