Sulfonyl chloride, is an inorganic compound, the chemical formula is SO2Cl2. It is a colorless fuming liquid, when hydrolyzed, the two chlorine atoms are replaced by hydroxyl, generating sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, when reacted with ammonia, ammonolysis occurs, and the chlorine atoms are replaced by amino groups, and the sulfonyl chloride decomposes into SO2 and Cl2 at high temperatures. It is mainly used as a chlorinating agent or chlorine sulfonate, and also used in the manufacture of dyestuffs, rubber, and so on.
