Ethylene glycol monomethyl ether is an organic compound, chemical formula for C3H8O2, colorless transparent liquid, miscible with water, miscible in alcohols, ketones, hydrocarbons, mainly used as a solvent for oils and fats, nitrocellulose, synthetic resins, alcohol-soluble dyestuffs and ethylcellulose, but also used as a fast-drying agent for varnish and a coating thinning agent, and also used as a penetrant and leveling agent for printing and dyeing industry and as an additive for fuel industry.
