二甲基亚砜(DMSO)是一种含硫有机化合物，分子式为C2H6OS，常温下为无色无臭的透明液体，是一种吸湿性的可燃液体。具有高极性、高沸点、热稳定性好、非质子、与水混溶的特性，能溶于乙醇、丙醇、苯和氯仿等大多数有机物，被誉为“万能溶剂”。在酸存在时加热会产生少量甲基硫醇、甲醛、二甲基硫、甲磺酸等化合物。在高温下有分解现象，遇氯能发生剧烈反应,在空气中燃烧发出淡蓝色火焰。可作有机溶剂、反应介质和有机合成中间体。也可用作合成纤维的染 色溶剂、去染剂、染色载体以及回收乙炔、二氧化硫的吸收剂。
