Ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, is an organic compound, chemical formula for C4H10O2, colorless oily liquid, miscible with water, miscible in ethanol, ethyl ether, acetone and other most of the organic solvents, mainly used as solvents, leather colorants, emulsifiers, stabilizers, paint thinner, paint stripper and so on.
Chemical Properties
It has the general properties of alcohol and ether: the molecule contains hydroxyl group and ether bond, which can occur some reactions of alcohol, such as esterification reaction, reaction with sodium metal to produce hydrogen, etc.; the ether bond can be broken under certain conditions.
